In a deeply disturbing and spine-chilling incident, a video of two women being paraded naked on a road by a group of men in Manipur has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread condemnation and demands for immediate action. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has alleged that the women were gang-raped in a field, adding further gravity to the horrifying incident.

The incident took place on May 4 in the Kangpokpi district, located about 35 km from the state capital Imphal, according to a statement by the ITLF. However, the police have stated that the incident occurred in another district, although the first information report (FIR) was filed in Kangpokpi.

In response to the video's circulation on Twitter, the government is taking strict actions against the platform, as it could potentially lead to law and order issues, which are prohibited under the law. The IT ministry has initiated steps across various platforms to prevent further dissemination of the video.

The shocking video has elicited strong reactions from political leaders across parties. Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed her horror and reached out to Chief Minister N Biren Singh after witnessing the inhumane act. Prominent leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Jairam Ramesh, Sachin Pilot, Aaditya Thackeray, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Mahua Moitra, Saket Gokhale, and others have strongly condemned the incident, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the ongoing violence in Manipur, which began on May 3.

Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his anguish over the incident, stating, "My heart is filled with pain and anger. The incident from Manipur that has come before us is shameful for any civilized society. I urge all the CMs to further strengthen law & order in their states - especially for the security of women and take the strongest measures. Be it any incident in Rajasthan or Chhattisgarh or Manipur or any corner of the country - rise above politics..."

The heinous crime against the daughters of Manipur must never be forgiven, and the guilty must be held accountable. As citizens, it is our collective responsibility to take a stand against such atrocities and ensure the safety and dignity of women across the nation.

Let us come together and demand swift and stringent action against the perpetrators. Sign the Yachika (petition) and take the Sankalp (pledge) to fight against such heinous crimes and ensure justice for the victims. Together, we can create a society where no one is a bystander to such acts of brutality. Click the button below to take action now!
