Ayodhya: Shri Ram Janambhoomi

Shri Ram Janambhoomi holds deep historical significance, marked by a long-standing struggle to reclaim and rebuild the temple that is under construction today. It represents the triumph of faith, resilience, and the unity of devotees who hold Lord Rama in their hearts. The site is a beacon of hope, inspiring individuals to connect with their inner divinity and strive for righteousness in their own lives.

Lord Hanuman lived here in a cave and guarded the Shri Ram Janambhoomi or Ramkot. The main temple contains the Shri Vigrah of Maa Anjani, with Bal Hanuman seated on her lap.

This is the main temple of Ayodhya, which was built by King Orchha. It is the biggest and grandest. This is called Shriram's inner city or Sitaji's palace. The Shri Vigrah in this are Shree Sita-Ram. In front of the big Vigrah on the throne.

A little far away from Hanumangarhi is the 'big place'. This place is famous by the name 'Ayodhyanaresh Dasharatha's palace'. There is a beautiful temple of Darshaneshwar Mahadev in the garden of this palace.

Mattagjendra (Matagand) is the eldest son of Vibhishanji and is revered as the protector of Ramkot in Ayodhya. To the south of the famous Matagand square is the Mattagjendra temple. By seeing him all the problems of the people of Ayodhya go away. He is called Kotwal of Ayodhya.

Enshrined within the ancient scriptures as Gopratara Tirtha, Guptar Ghat holds a profound significance. It was here, at this holy site, that Lord Rama gracefully concluded His earthly sojourn, leading the citizens of Ayodhya back to the celestial abode of Vaikuntha. The Skanda Purana resounds with the proclamation that the merit attained through Guptar Ghat surpasses all other sacred sites, forever unrivaled in its sanctity and divine blessings.

There is a 5 feet high idol of Laxmanji in the temple here. This idol was found in front of the pond. It is said that it was from here that Sri Lakshmana reached the supreme abode. 

Pilgrims offer pinddaan at Swargdwarghat itself. Near this Ghat there is the famous Shri Nageshwarnath Mahadev temple of Ayodhya. It is said that this idol was installed by Kushdwara and after getting this temple, Maharaj Vikramaditya renovated Ayodhya.
