Mysterious Forms: The deities in the temple are unique and made of wood. They are replaced with new ones during the Naba Kalebara ritual, which takes place approximately once every 12 to 19 years. The old deities are buried in a sacred burial ground known as Koili Vaikuntha.

Rath Yatra Festival: The annual Rath Yatra (chariot festival) of Jagannath Temple is world-famous. During this grand event, the deities are taken out of the temple in intricately decorated chariots and pulled by thousands of devotees. It is one of the largest chariot processions in the world.

Kitchen with No Scale: The temple has an enormous kitchen known as the Anand Bazaar or Mahaprasad Bhandar, where food is prepared for the deities and distributed as prasad (blessed food) to devotees. Interestingly, the food is cooked in pots stacked one on top of another, and the chefs rely on their experience and intuition rather than using scales or measurements.

No Shadows: It is said that no shadow falls on the main idol of Lord Jagannath inside the temple complex at any time of the day. This phenomenon has puzzled scientists and remains an intriguing aspect of the temple.

Strict Entry Rules: Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple premises, and non-Hindus are prohibited from entering. This tradition has been in place for centuries and is enforced to maintain the sanctity and religious practices of the temple.

Unique Sudarshan Chakra : At the top of the temple's main tower, there is a large and magnificent Sudarshan Chakra (discus) made of an alloy of eight metals. It is said to be unique and has mystical properties.
